Wrekin take revenge for Woburn 2009

Old Wrekinians took revenge for the defeat last year at Woburn by beating Old Bedfordians at Little Aston by four points to one.  This is the second time that the respective golfing societies have met in what we hope will continue to be a regular fixture.

Following a light breakfast of bacon rolls and coffee we could not have wished for a finer day's golf for the re-match against Old Bedfordians.  A mild frost melted away under a gentle sun revealing Little Aston Golf Course in excellent condition for the time of year.  The format was four ball better ball matchplay off handicap.  Wrekin ended up wining the match with some very good play throughout the team and were presented with the annual challenge cup [which is currently sitting on my book case at home].

Wrekin had home advantage as most had played the course before in our Autumn meeting.  For many of the Old Befordians, this was the first time that they had played  Little Aston.  Judging by the feedback after the game, over a splendid lunch, there was great praise for the course and its condition.  Alistair Brett sent a note of thanks to the club.

As ever, the Old Bedfordians were great company and we have pencilled in a return fixture at Woburn (possibly the Marquis course) for October 2011.  The date will be confirmed and posted on the OW web site.
