We were treated to some glorious weather this year and despite a lower turn-out than normal, an excellent day was enjoyed by all at Little Aston on Sunday 13th September. The OW’s were outplayed in the morning round by Miles Oakely (Y) who returned a fine score of 38 points to win the Invitational Trophy whilst Tony Wrighton won the Sir John Bayley Cup with 37 points and John Dale took the Scratch event with a gross 81. Steak pie and a glass of red revived Nick Rose and Alistair Brett who won the afternoon foursomes with a score of 32 points over 14 holes.

The President, Michael Thorpe, reported on the activities of the Society and encouraged members to boost attendance at next year’s event.
A change of venue to Aberdovey in 2010 was discussed. It was generally felt that Little Aston offers special value due to its accessibility, condition and level of green fees which they kindly held at 2007 rates.
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery are sent to Captain Jonathan Evers and Guy Shephard, neither of whom could attend due to illness. Alistair Brett, Hon. Sec. September 2009
